Lymphatic Drainage
Lymphatic drainage is a type of gentle massage intended to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph, which carries waste products away from the tissues. Short and soft rhythmic movements stimulate lymph flow enhancing detoxification, swelling and inflammation reduction.
What are the benefits of Lymphatic Drainage?
- Increase blood & lymph circulation
- Reduce oedema or swelling and inflammation
- Encourage body detoxification and immune defence
- Induce a relaxation response to body and mind
When should I get Lymphatic Drainage?
If you had a recent injury or a surgery, suffer from poor circulation or are physically inactive your limbs may be swollen up and your lymphatic system will need help to be effective again.
With manual Lymphatic Drainage lymph vessels are stimulated to open up and collect the excessive fluid which is then directed to the lymph nodes where it’is filtered and can re-enter the bloodstream.
In addition, lymph nodes filter waste from our body cells and assist the immune system in building an immune response, that is why manual Lymphatic Drainage is also indicated if you want to boost your defenses and detox.
Does it help cellulite reduction?
Unfortunately there is scarce scientific evidence for any treatment (laser, ultrasound, creams, manual therapies) to effectively reduce cellulite.
Being cellulite mainly fat deposits that push against connective tissue, a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise and a balanced diet are essential to prevent and reduce it. Manual lymphatic Drainage can help to get rid of fluid retention which is only one of the aspects cellulite presents.
How long does the treatment take?
Usually if there is swelling in one limb a 30 minutes treatment is sufficient. Upper or lower body require 45 minutes. For a full body detox 60 minutes are necessary.
How often should it be performed?
When the swelling is acute and localised, you can have up to 3 sessions per week until the oedema is reabsorbed. A full body detox can be performed monthly.
How much does the treatment cost?
The price is based on treatment’s length, not type. Check our prices here.
